Check data before styling it
Define the question the map should answer, select reliable data you may use, and check coordinate systems, units and extent before combining layers. Review the legend, scale and data dates before export; an attractive map is not proof of correctness.
When a GIS workflow helps
QGIS is worth considering for comparing regions, joining business tables to geographic objects or repeatedly generating maps. If you only need directions once, a full GIS workflow may be unnecessary effort.
Open tools do not validate the inputs
The software license does not automatically cover external basemaps, tiles or business data. Coordinate systems, boundary definitions and collection dates can change the result. Check data rights and applicable requirements before publishing a map.
